The '80s was a golden age for apocalypse movies, what with planet Earth seeming to be on the brink of a nuclear apocalypse and all. These days, terrorism is filling in for "The Bomb" as a ready-made plot device, with rather mixed results.
Right at Your Door comes off as a somewhat blase affair, considering it's telling the story of LA's demise. Three dirty bombs have gone off in the city, and the police have imposed a 24-hour curfew; anyone found outside will be presumed infected, and arrested by the authorities. The story centres around an unemployed musician and his girlfriend. He has sealed up their home in accordance with the government's commands, and when she tries to get inside, he refuses. What follows is more or less a long, mournful dialogue between the couple through sheets of cling wrap.
Extras include a commentary and interviews. -JJ
