It seems like a wonderful comedy, but it's hard to say for sure because so much of the humour seems to depend on an intimate knowledge of the French culture and language. The story is about a postal manager from the south of France who, to his horror, is transferred up north, a region that's apparently thought of as a backwater in France. As he gets to know the colourful locals and learn the local dialect, he comes to adore the place, but what of his wife and kid back home? It's an enjoyable film, but something was definitely lost in translation.
